This One Day offers documentary family photography located in Adelaide, South Australia. We do travel though! If you live in another state in Australia, or even overseas, please get in touch. 

How much do your sessions cost?

We offer a range of package to capture families, newborns, grandparents or picnics. We work hard to keep our pricing cost effective so that you don’t miss out on the opportunity to get those photos that you always wanted. Check out our investment page for more detail.

Do you offer posed photoshoots?

No we don’t. This One Day exists to offer a fresh perspective on capturing your family, and part of that is photographing within your natural environment. Having said that, we’re very happy to include a quick ‘family’ shot during the photoshoot, either posed or naturally constructed. Otherwise, if you would like some recommendations on local photographers that offer lifestyle or posed sessions let us know!

What time can we choose to have a session?

Whatever time you think best suits your family - we leave this choice up to you. Most families tend to choose a morning session, as this is generally when the little ones are their brightest. It’s also a chance to capture routines that will soon be long forgotten...pyjamas, cuddles in bed, breakfast, the first tantrum for the day. Most families usually choose around 8am, however I’m not afraid of early mornings either. 6am? Easy!

Should we organise activities to do during the session?

Definitely! Think about some favourite things that you love to do as a family, and have these ready. Reading favourite books, jumping on the trampoline, taking a walk to the local park are all great ideas. Keep things relaxed though, and don’t feel like you need to overly-construct the activities. It’s lovely to let the day lead your family, as it would any other day. Let’s just see what happens!

What should we wear?

Capturing your family in their natural routine is always best, however we very much understand that everyone has their own levels of comfort!

Having a camera in your home can feel daunting (only to start with, promise!), so we fully advocate you choosing what you wear. Whether that be PJs and a baby hanging off the boob, or a fully clothed, brushed and shooed household - that’s absolutely fine by us.

Will the photoshoot feel a little bit awkward?

Definitely will. But only really for the first 10 minutes or so! Most families fall back in to their natural routine after this time, and generally the little ones stop smiling for the camera by then too. My personality is naturally warm and engaging, and I’ll generally chat a little bit throughout the session to get to know you and your family more.

What about weather?

Depending on what session you would like to do, weather shouldn’t cause too much of an issue. Much of the session will be in your home, capturing your daily routines, and heck if it’s raining let’s put some gumboots on and jump in puddles! If you do have your heart set on some photos out in the sunshine, we can do a weather check a few days prior, and always look to reschedule if needed.

How many photos will I receive?

A standard three hour session will usually produce 120 - 150 photos. These are all supplied as print ready images, for you to do with as you please. There are no extra charges or licensing fees on top of the package cost. Your family, your photos!

How will the photos be supplied?

Once the post-editing is completed, we will send you a beautiful slideshow with all of the images set to music. It’s the one that will most likely bring a tear to your eye. We will also send a password protected link to an online gallery where you can view and download all of your photos. You can share this link with family and friends to download images too, or send to them individually.

Oh no! I’ve lost my photos. Can I get another copy?

Don’t worry! We keep backups of backups, and can always resupply your images through the gallery link. Just let us know.

What can we do with the photos that we receive?

All sorts of things! Your photos are a living, breathing story about your family and it’s wonderful to have them out on display. Feel free to print them yourself, or we do offer a range of printed products. Get in touch to find out more!

Will you post our photos on your social media pages?

Only with your permission. While we love the opportunity to showcase our work and the beautiful families that we have photographed, your choices around privacy are our priority. We’re also very happy to have you vet the selection of photos that we choose to post. Just let us know.
